NEW DELHI, Jan. 14---Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP, as part of his on-going programme of having personal interaction with Block Congress Committee (BCC) presidents, today honoured New Delhi District Bhogal Block president Shri Mahesh Sharma with a shawl. Area MP and Union Minister of State for Urban Development Shri Ajay Maken, in-charge of New Delhi District and DPCC general secretary Shri Om Prakash Bhiduri, area MLA Shri Tarwinder Singh Marwah, New Delhi District president Shri Arunesh Sharma, Municipal Councillor Smt. Darshna Jatav former Municipal Councillors, candidates who stood for elections and a large number of Congress workers were also present.
Shri Agarwal, in his address, said only a Congress Government could ensure the development and progress of Delhi as the people were very familiar with the misrule of the BJP Government as when the party was in power, the wheels of development had been set back in the Capital. Shri Agarwal said whenever the BJP ruled Delhi, the Capital had only faced adversity and setbacks as the BJP leaders were interested in lining their pockets, instead of getting down to the serious business of administering Delhi.
Shri Agarwal said only the Congress could provide a stable, sustainable and progressive Government in Delhi as during the past nine years, the Congress Government had done manifold development works, which has put Delhi among the top-most metropolitan cities in the world. He said on the demands of the people from the Poorvanchal region, the Delhi Government has decided to setup a Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy and he congratulated the people of Poorvanchal for that. Shri Agarwal said the contribution of the people from the Poorvanchal region in the development of Delhi was immense and the Congress Party would always keep that in mind while keeping the wheels of change and development in Delhi in motion.
Shri Ajay Maken said the Congress Governments at the Centre and in Delhi have implemented several projects and schemes in Delhi for making the lives of the citizens of Delhi that much smoother. He thanked DPCC president Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal's initiative of personally interacting with Block-level Congress leaders and workers, which has boosted the morale of grass-root level Congress workers. He said the Congress Party was in a very strong position in Delhi, and the party would confidently face the coming Assembly elections. He said the party workers would spare no effort in trouncing the BJP and helping the Congress come to power for the third time in a row.
