NEW DELHI, Jan. 4—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP expressed his confidence that a satisfactory solution would be found to the new guidelines on old school vehicles and vans after discussion with the Delhi Government. He said he had requested the Government to seriously consider giving relief to the old school vehicles as there was little time comply with new guidelines. He said this after meeting a delegation of the School Vans Owners' Problem Society. He also requested the van owners to give importance to the guidelines framed by the Transport Department as it was a question of the safety of lakhs of school children.

The School Vans Owners' Problem Society delegation met Shri Agarwal at Rajiv Bhawan, DPCC office, here today and submitted him a memorandum containing their demands and problems. Delhi Transport Minister Shri Haroon Yousuf, who was also present, promised to sympathetically consider the delegation's demands after having discussions with the concerned officials very soon.

Shri Agarwal also promised to find a satisfactory solution to the demands of the delegation after discussing the matter with the Delhi Government. The main demands of the delegation included increase in the life span of 15-year-old vehicles to 20 years, official sanction to those vehicles having LPG kits and loan provision and one month's time for the installation of new LPG kits on vehicles.

The delegation consisted of chief patron of the School Vans Owners' Problem Society and former MLA Shri Jaspal Singh and president Shri Tejinder Singh Lucky.
