NEW DELHI, Jan. 3—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal, MP wished speedy recovery of Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi to lead the party with vigour and dynamism as before in a resolution at a meeting of senior Congress office-bearers of the party held at Rajiv Bhawan, DPCC office, here today. In view of the coming Assembly elections this year, Shri Agarwal, at the meeting of the Pradesh Congress office-bearers, district in-charges, former Mayors and the committee formed to see the functioning of the Block Congress Committees, deliberated at length as to how to consolidate the gains and make the party more stronger in Delhi.

Shri Agarwal asserted that the Congress will return to power for the third time in Delhi in the coming Assembly elections, but warned the party cadres to be vigilant and prepared to face any situation and eventuality, wither big or small, to facilitate the Congress Party's victory. He said it was essential to enrol more members at the block and unit levels to achieve the Congress Party's aim of securing a third win in the Delhi Assembly elections.

The assembled leaders and party office-bearers gave a detailed feedback of the responsibilities they have been entrusted with and some suggestions to the DPCC president at the meeting. Besides Shri Krishan Swaroop, Shri Jagdish Tokas and Shri Abjit Singh Gulati others present were DPCC office-bearers Shri Ajit Singh Chadha, Shri Dhrender Tyagi, Shri Balwan Khokhar, Shri Om Prakash Bidhuri, Shri C.P.Mittal, Shri Mahmood Zia, Shri Rajender Sharma, Shri Rajender Malik, Dr Naresh Kumar, Shri Sunil Vohra, Shri Rattan Jain, Congress party's leader in the MCD Shri Jitender Kumar Jitu, former Mayors Shri Ashok Kumar Jain and Shri A.R.Verma, and Shri Jaiveer Singh Nagar.

Shri Agarwal decided, on the basis of the suggestions and deliberations at the meeting, that 250 workers from each block will be chosen and ten workers each will be given responsibility as to how to manage the polling booths during elections.

Shri Agarwal said special attention will be given to areas dominated by Dalits and the issues of people from the Poorvanchal region, minorities and farmers of Delhi, who are the backbones of the party, will be given due attention and weightage to address them.

DPCC president Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal said those who put their best for the interest of the party will be given due importance and will also be honoured.

The meeting unanimously hailed Shri Agarwal's visits to the Block Congress Committees to honour the BCC presidents as it was a welcome step to boost the morale the party cadres and to have a first hand knowledge of the functioning of the party at the grass-root levels. They said the fruits of such initiative by the DPCC president will surely be seen in the coming Assembly elections.

Shri Agarwal said the interaction between the party organisation and the Government will be further strengthened leaving no scope for complaint by anyone. He said a meeting between the party and the Delhi Chief Minister and her Cabinet colleagues will be held at Rajiv Bhawan, DPCC office, soon to strengthen the bond between the party and the Government in a bid to solve the problems of the people and attend to all other major issues as well as to propagate the achievements of the Congress Government in Delhi during the last nine yars to take full advantage of the Delhi Assembly elections in favour of the Congress party.
