SH. MANGAT RAM SINGHAL,

Hon'ble Minister of Industries, Labour, Employment, Election and Land & Building

            Sh. Mangat Ram Singhal was born on 14th Nov 1942 at 10, Sahipur, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi in a renowned and well to do family.  His father Late Lala Sh. Siri Kishan Singhal was a freedom fighter, renowned social worker and remained a Sarpanch of Circle Panchayat for a span of fifteen years.

             Sh. Mangat Ram Singhal graduated from Delhi University. With a strong background of Congress ideology  he started taking part in activities of Congress Party from the days of his student life. The personalities of Prime Minister Late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Smt. Indira Gandhi made a lasting impression on him and soon he established himself as a known and dedicated congress leader in his area.

             In 1977, he was elected as a Councillor from Wazirabad Ward No.32.  Considering his dedication and he was appointed as Dy. Chairman of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee ( J.J.Cell) in 1980.  In 1983 he was re elected as Councillor with a big margin. From 1983 to 1990 he was elected as Chairman of Works Committee and Chief Whip of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Congress).

             In 1985, he was given responsibility of Chairman of "Harijan Sewak Sangh Delhi".  Sh. Singhal has been a Delegate of Wazirabad Area in Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

             He was a Treasurer of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee for two times in 1995 to 1997 and February 1997 to June 1998.

             He was handed over with the responsibility of Vice- President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee from June 1998 to April 1999.

              Sh. Singhal has always remained  in forefront for relief work with his sense of service at the time of natural calamity, violence and any untoward incident.

             In Second Legislative election held in 1998, Sh. Singhal was elected with a huge margin from Adarsh Nagar Legislative Constituency and appointed Chief Whip of Congress Legislative Party.

             In third Legislative election held in Dec, 2003 re-elected again from Adarsh Nagar Legislative Constituency and taking into account his commitment to duty, experience and progressive ideas, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Smt. Sheila Dikshit appointed Sh. Singhal as a Minister of Industries, Labour, Employment, Election and Land & Building in the Govt. of NCT, Delhi.
